The application for license, in addition to the other matters set out in this chapter to serve as a bail bondsperson shall affirmatively show that the applicant is a natural person who has reached the age of twenty - one years, is a citizen of the United States, has been a bona fide resident of the state for the preceding year, will actively engage in the bail bond business, and has not been convicted of, or pled guilty or nolo contendere to, a felony or a crime involving moral turpitude or any crime involving moral turpitude.
The director of the Division of Insurance may waive the restriction relating to the conviction of, or plea of guilty or nolo contendere to, a felony if three years have elapsed since the completion of the sentence imposed by the court in connection with the violation.
