46A-18-13. Petition examined by board--Investigation--Payment of estimated costs--Representation of petition.

The Board of Water and Natural Resources shall examine the petition, and if it determines that the petitioners have complied with the requirements of this chapter, the board may make an immediate investigation of the proposed district and of its proposed works, systems, or plans and of the engineering and economic feasibility of the project. The board may make an estimate of the cost of the investigation and may require the petitioners to defray part or all of the estimated cost before proceeding with the investigation.
If the petition is dismissed by the board, the petitioners may present a new petition covering the same matter or the same petition with additional signatures if additional signatures are necessary.
