32-12-4. Examination of applicant--Place of examination--Time of examination.

The Department of Public Safety or any person authorized by the secretary of the Department of Public Safety shall examine each applicant for a driver license. Such examination shall include a test of the applicant's eyesight, the applicant's ability to read and understand highway signs regulating, warning, and directing traffic, the applicant's knowledge of the traffic laws of this state, and shall include an actual demonstration of ability to exercise ordinary and reasonable control in the operation of a motor vehicle.
The department shall make provision for giving an examination either in the county where the applicant resides or at a place adjacent thereto reasonably convenient to the applicant within not more than thirty days from the date the application is received.
