27A-4-15. Transportation of nonresident patient to home state--Payment of expense.

If it appears to the satisfaction of the administrator of the South Dakota Human Services Center and to the secretary of social services that a person has been received at such institution who is not a resident of this state, but who is a resident of some other state or territory of the United States, the administrator of such hospital shall so certify, and shall provide for the transportation of such person to the state of his residence, and particularly to a similar institution of such state, and shall also provide an attendant to take such patient to the state of his residence and to such institution therein.
The expense of transporting and caring for such person en route, together with the expense of such attendant, shall be paid out of the general funds of the state.
