The attorney general may, for the purpose of enforcing the provisions of this chapter, inspect or examine any political committee records required to be maintained by this chapter. Any person having charge, control, or possession of political committee records who neglects or refuses the attorney general reasonable access to any records required to be maintained by this chapter that are necessary to enforce the provisions of this chapter is guilty of a Class 2 misdemeanor. A subsequent offense within a calendar year is a Class 1 misdemeanor.
