Summary

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Office of Research and Development (ORD), gives notice of a virtual meeting of the Board of Scientific Counselors (BOSC) Executive Committee (EC) to review and finalize the report from the Climate Change (CC) and the Social and Community Science (SCS) Subcommittees. The report responds to three charge questions posed to the Subcommittees at the BOSC informational meetings held in June 2023, which pertain to ORD's progress in the areas of social science research, climate science, and interdisciplinary place-based, community-engaged research.

Dates

The meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. All times noted are Eastern Time and approximate. The meeting may adjourn early if all business is finished. Attendees should register by Monday, April 22, 2024, at . Requests for making oral presentations at the meeting will be accepted through April 22, 2024. Comments may be submitted through April 22, 2024.

General Information: The meeting is open to the public. Any member of the public interested in receiving a draft agenda, attending the meeting, or making a presentation at the meeting may contact Tom Tracy, the Designated Federal Officer (DFO), via any of the contact methods listed in the FOR FURTHER INFORMATION CONTACT section above. Individuals making an oral presentation will be limited to a total of three minutes. Proposed agenda items for the meeting include but are not limited to the following: Review of charge questions about the progress ORD has made in three areas: (A) social science research and social scientists; (B) climate science in ORD with a focus on the new Integrated Climate Science Division (ICSD); and (C) the development of interdisciplinary place-based, community-engaged research to address pressing issues (such as climate change, environmental justice, and cumulative impacts).
