Summary

In accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995, FAA invites public comments about our intention to request the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) approval to renew an information collection. The Federal Register Notice with a 60-day comment period soliciting comments on the following collection of information was published on April 3, 2012, vol. 77, no. 64, pages 20093-20094. The information garnered from a signed Specific Release form is used by FAA Special Agents to obtain information related to a specific investigation. That information is then provided to the FAA decision making authority to make FAA employment and/or pilot certification/revocation determinations.

OMB Control Number: 2120-0740. Title: Specific Release Form. Form Numbers: FAA Form 1600-81. Type of Review: Renewal of a current information collection. Background: Investigations are conducted under 49 USC Sections 106, 40113, 40114, 46101, and 46104, the Aviation Drug Trafficking Control Act of 1984, the Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1986, and the Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1988. The public respondents are pilots or FAA job applicants from whom additional information is needed to complete a thorough investigation. The information garnered from a signed Specific Release form is used by FAA Special Agents to obtain information related to a specific investigation. Respondents: Approximately 270 subjects of investigation. Frequency: Information is collected as needed. Estimated Average Burden per Response: 5 minutes. Estimated Total Annual Burden: 23 hours.
