BILLING CODE 4410-15-P DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE Notice of Lodging of Proposed Consent Decree Under the Clean Air Act Notice is hereby given that on April 25, 2012, a proposed Consent Decree in *United States of America and State of New Jersey* v. * Hess Corporation,* Civil Action No. 2:12cv2335 ** was lodged with the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. The Consent Decree in this Clean Air Act enforcement action against Hess Corporation resolves allegations by the Environmental Protection Agency, asserted in a complaint filed together with the Consent Decree, under section 113(b) of the Clean Air Act, 42 U.S.C. 7413(b), for alleged environmental violations at Hess Corporation's petroleum refinery in Port Reading, New Jersey.
This is one of numerous national settlements reached as part of the EPA's Clean Air Act Petroleum Refinery Initiative. Consistent with the objectives of EPA's national initiative, in addition to the payment of $850,000 in civil penalties, the settlement requires Hess Corporation to perform injunctive relief to reduce emission of nitrogen oxides and volatile organic compounds. (30)days from the date of this publication comments relating to the Consent Decree.
