SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: We are soliciting public comments to permit the Department to: • Evaluate whether the proposed information collection is necessary to properly perform our functions. • Evaluate the accuracy of our estimate of the burden of the proposed collection, including the validity of the methodology and assumptions used. • Enhance the quality, utility, and clarity of the information to be collected. • Minimize the reporting burden on those who are to respond. *Abstract of proposed collection:* The Department of State uses Form DS-230 (Application for Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration), in conjunction with a personal interview, to determine an applicant's eligibility for an immigrant visa. The form requests only information necessary to determine the applicant's eligibility for a requested immigrant visa. An immigrant visa may not be issued without the requested information. *Methodology* : The form is required to be filled out and completed by the applicant.
