BILLING CODE 7020-02-P DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE Notice of Lodging of Consent Decree Under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act Notice is hereby given that on June 22, 2010, a proposed Consent Decree in *United States and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection* v. *Williamsport Sanitary Authority,* Civil Action No. 4:10-cv-01304 was lodged with the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.
The proposed Consent Decree, lodged on June 22, 2010, resolves the liability of defendant Williamsport Sanitary Authority (“WSA”) for violations of the Clean Water Act, 42 U.S.C. and the Pennsylvania Clean Streams Act, 35 P.S. §§ 691.1 *et seq.* alleged in a Complaint filed on June 22, 2010. The Consent Decree requires WSA to expand the treatment capacity of its Central Wastewater Treatment Plant and to increase its storage capacity to cope with high flow during wet weather to guard against combined sewer overflows to the West Branch of the Susquehanna River.
WSA has also agreed to pay a civil penalty of $160,000 to the United States and $160,000 to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. The Department of Justice will receive comments relating to the proposed Consent Decree for a period of thirty
