Action: Notice of an application under section 17(b) of the Investment Company Act of 1940 (“Act”) for an exemption from section 17(a) of the Act. SUMMARY OF THE APPLICATION: Applicants request an order to permit Life Insurance Company of North America (“LINA”) to transfer some or all of its portfolio of “equity securities” of companies which comprise the “Standard & Poor's 500 Composite Stock Price Index” (“S&P 500 Securities” and “S&P 500,” respectively) to a series of CIGNA Funds Group (“CFG”) in exchange for shares of the series. Applicants: CFG and LINA. Filing Dates: The application was filed on January 12, 2000, and amended on May 22, 2000. Hearing or Notification of Hearing: An order granting the application will be issued unless the SEC orders a hearing. Interested persons may request a hearing by writing to the SEC's Secretary and serving applicants with a copy of the request, personally or by mail. Hearing requests should be received by the SEC by 5:30 p.m. on June 15, 2000, and should be accompanied by proof of service on applicants in the form of an affidavit or, for lawyers, a certificate of service.
