An Act To amend the DNA Analysis Backlog Elimination Act of 2000 to reauthorize the Debbie Smith DNA Backlog Grant Program, and for other purposes.July 30, 2024[[H.R. 1105](/us/bill/118/hr/1105)] * Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa­tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,* Debbie Smith Act of 2023. ## SECTION 1 SHORT TITLE [34 USC 10101 note](/us/usc/t34/s10101). This Act may be cited as the “Debbie Smith Act of 2023”. ## SEC. 2 REAUTHORIZATION Section 2(j) of the DNA Analysis Backlog Elimination Act of 2000 ([34 U.S.C. 40701(j)](/us/usc/t34/s40701/j)) is amended by striking “fiscal years 2019 through 2024” and inserting “fiscal years 2024 through 2029”. ## SEC. 3 AUDITS TO PROTECT INTEGRITY OF GRANT AWARDS Section 2(c)(4) of the DNA Analysis Backlog Elimination Act of 2000 ([34 U.S.C. 40701(c)(4)](/us/usc/t34/s40701/c/4)) is amended by striking “2022” and inserting “2029”.
