§ 4318. Nuisances and dangerous structures.
(a)Authorization.-- A board of commissioners may prohibit and remove a nuisance or dangerous structure on public or private grounds, including, weeds, accumulations of municipal waste, the storage of abandoned or junked automobiles and obstructions or nuisances in the streets of the township.
(b)Powers.-- The board of commissioners may:
(1)require the removal of a nuisance or dangerous structure by the owner or occupier of the grounds; or
(2)in default of the removal by the owner or occupier of grounds under paragraph (1), remove the nuisance or dangerous structure itself and collect the cost of removal, together with a penalty of 10% of the cost, in the manner provided by law for the collection of municipal claims, or by action of assumpsit without the filing of a claim, or the township may seek relief by bill in equity.
