679.500 Administration of local anesthesia for certain purposes; rules.
(1)A dentist licensed to practice dentistry in this state may administer local anesthesia to a person for the purposes of receiving permanent lip color from a person licensed to perform tattooing under ORS 690.350 to 690.410 or having permanent hair removal in the lip area from a person licensed to perform electrolysis under ORS 690.350 to 690.410.
(2)Prior to administering local anesthesia for the purposes authorized under subsection
(1)of this section, the dentist must:
(a)Receive a written order from a person licensed to perform tattooing or electrolysis under ORS 690.350 to 690.410;
(b)Obtain a current health history from and perform an oral examination of the person who will receive the anesthesia; and
(c)Establish and maintain a patient record in accordance with rules adopted by the Oregon Board of Dentistry.
(3)The Oregon Board of Dentistry shall adopt rules authorizing a dentist licensed to practice dentistry in Oregon to administer local anesthesia for the purposes of tattooing human lips or having permanent hair removal in the lip area by a person licensed to perform tattooing or electrolysis under ORS 690.350 to 690.410.
