§26-5-111.1. Declaration of Candidacy - Signature of candidate.

To be valid, a Declaration of Candidacy submitted to the secretary of any county election board or to the Secretary of the State Election Board shall be signed by the candidate in writing. The candidate shall personally subscribe his name to the Declaration of Candidacy, and no agent, representative or employee of the candidate may sign on the candidate's behalf. The signature must be the original, handwritten signature or autograph of the candidate. No facsimile, reproduction, typewritten or other substitute signature or autograph will be valid. Added by Laws 1988, c. 101, § 4, emerg. eff. April 1, 1988.
