§11-11-104. Election of vice-mayor - Duties.

The council shall elect from among its members a vice-mayor. The vice-mayor shall be elected in each odd-numbered year at the first council meeting held after council terms begin, or as soon thereafter as practicable, and he shall serve until his successor has been elected and qualified. The vice-mayor shall act as mayor during the absence, disability or suspension of the mayor. During the absence, disability or suspension of both the mayor and vice- mayor, the council may elect an acting mayor from among its members to serve as mayor. Laws 1977, c. 256, § 11-104, eff.
