Section 4723.85 — Review and renewal of application.

(A)The board of nursing shall review all applications received under section 4723.83 of the Revised Code. If an applicant meets the requirements of section 4723.84 of the Revised Code, the board shall issue a community health worker certificate to the applicant.
(B)Notwithstanding the requirements specified in section 4723.84 of the Revised Code, the board shall issue a community health worker certificate in accordance with Chapter 4796. of the Revised Code to an applicant if either of the following applies:
(1)The applicant holds a certificate or license in another state.
(2)The applicant has satisfactory work experience, a government certification, or a private certification as described in that chapter as a community health worker in a state that does not issue that certificate or license.
(C)A community health worker certificate issued under division
(A)or
(B)of this section expires biennially and may be renewed in accordance with the schedule and procedures established by the board in rules adopted under section 4723.88 of the Revised Code. To be eligible for renewal, an individual must complete the continuing education requirements established by the board in rules adopted under section 4723.88 of the Revised Code and meet all other requirements for renewal, as specified in the board's rules adopted under that section. If an applicant for renewal has successfully completed the continuing education requirements and meets all other requirements for renewal, the board shall issue a renewed community health worker certificate to the applicant.
