Section 3375.12 — Municipal free public libraries - appointment of trustees.

Except as provided in section 3375.13 of the Revised Code, the erection and equipment and the custody, control, and administration of free public libraries established by municipal corporations shall be vested in a board of library trustees composed of seven members. The trustees shall be appointed by the legislative authority of the municipal corporation, to serve without compensation, for a term of four years, but the initial term of the seventh trustee may be for the number of years set by the legislative authority, not to exceed four years.
Vacancies shall be filled by like appointment for the unexpired term. The board shall organize in accordance with section 3375.32 of the Revised Code. In the exercise of its control and management of the municipal free public library, except as provided in section 3375.13 of the Revised Code, the board shall be governed by sections 3375.33 to 3375.41 of the Revised Code. This section does not affect the term of any member of the board appointed prior to January 1, 2013.
