Section 3317.05 — Calculating payments of approved career-technical education units.

(A)The department of education and workforce shall determine for each institution, by the last day of January of each year and based on information certified under section 3317.03 of the Revised Code, the number of career-technical education units or fractions of units approved by the department on the basis of standards and rules adopted by the department. As used in this section, "institution" means an institution operated by a department specified in section 3323.091 of the Revised Code and that provides career-technical education programs under the supervision of the division of career-technical education of the department that meet the standards and rules for these programs, including licensure of professional staff involved in the programs, as established by the department.
(B)All of the arithmetical calculations made under this section shall be carried to the second decimal place. The total number of units for institutions approved annually under this section shall not exceed the number of units included in the estimate of cost for these units and appropriations made for them by the general assembly.
(C)The department shall pay each institution approved for career-technical education units under division
(A)of this section an amount for the total of all the units approved under that division. The amount for each unit shall be the sum of the minimum salary for the teacher of the unit, calculated on the basis of the teacher's training level and years of experience pursuant to the salary schedule prescribed in the version of section 3317.13 of the Revised Code in effect prior to July 1, 2001, plus fifteen per cent of that minimum salary amount, and nine thousand five hundred ten dollars. Each institution that receives unit funds under this division annually shall report to the department on the delivery of services and the performance of students and any other information required by the department to evaluate the institution's career-technical education program.
(D)For each unit allocated to an institution pursuant to division
(A)of this section, the department, in addition to the amount specified in division
(B)of this section, shall pay a supplemental unit allowance of $7,227.
