(A)Whenever an autopsy is performed, including any individual component of an autopsy as defined in section 313.123 of the Revised Code, and the injury causing death occurred within the boundaries of a county other than the one in which the autopsy was performed, such other county shall pay the costs of the autopsy, including associated transportation costs. The cost of such autopsy shall be no greater than the actual value of the transportation of the body, services of the technicians, and materials used. Money derived from the fees paid for such autopsies shall be credited to the coroner's laboratory fund created in section 313.16 of the Revised Code.
(B)(1) Whenever an autopsy is performed, including any individual component of an autopsy as defined in section 313.123 of the Revised Code, and the person who died was an inmate of a state correctional facility, the department of rehabilitation and correction or the department of youth services, as appropriate, shall pay the costs of the autopsy, including associated transportation costs. The costs of the autopsy shall be no greater than the actual value of the transportation of the body, services of the technicians, and the facilities and materials used. Money derived from the fees paid for such autopsies shall be credited to the coroner's laboratory fund created in section 313.16 of the Revised Code.
(2)As used in this division, "state correctional facility" means a "state correctional institution," as defined in section 2967.01 of the Revised Code, a state correctional institution that is privately operated and managed pursuant to section 9.06 of the Revised Code, and an "institution," as defined in section 5139.01 of the Revised Code.
