Section 101.29 — Legislative employees.

The senate and the house of representatives shall choose their own officials and employees, respectively, and fix their compensation. The clerk of the senate, the chief administrative officer and the clerk of the house of representatives, and the principal sergeants at arms designated by the respective houses shall receive a travel allowance per mile each way twice a month from and to their place of residence, if outside Franklin county, by the most direct highway route of public travel, to be paid monthly, at the same mileage rate allowed for the reimbursement of travel expenses of state agents as provided by rule of the director of budget and management adopted pursuant to division
(B)of section 126.31 of the Revised Code.
The sentence of this section requiring payment for mileage does not include the assistant sergeants at arms designated by the senate and house of representatives.
