NRS 391.060 Authorization for school district or charter school to employ licensee who has legal right to work in United States; warrant; penalty.
1. Upon compliance with all applicable federal laws, regulations and internal policies or programs of a federal agency or department, the board of trustees of a school district or the governing body of a charter school may employ a person who has the legal right to work in the United States pursuant to any such federal law, regulation or internal policy or program of a federal agency or department if the person holds a license issued by the Superintendent of Public Instruction.
If a teacher who has the legal right to work in the United States which expires on a certain date pursuant to any federal law, regulation or internal policy or program of a federal agency or department, the teacher’s employment with a school district or the governing body of a charter school, as applicable, automatically expires on the date that he or she is no longer entitled to work in the United States pursuant to federal laws, regulations or internal policies or programs of a federal agency or department.
2. The State Controller or a county auditor may issue a warrant to a teacher who is employed pursuant to subsection 1.
3. Any person who violates any of the provisions of this section is guilty of a misdemeanor.
