The commissioner of public lands of the state is authorized to acquire the necessary land to construct, equip and maintain a land office building or buildings thereon to be used as offices for the purpose of administering the trust created by the New Mexico Enabling Act and other similar acts of congress granting lands to the state. In acquiring land and construction of a building, the commissioner of public lands is authorized to anticipate need for expansion. Pending immediate need, he is authorized to lease office space or land to other agencies of the state on a year-to-year basis at a rental rate comparable to that charged for office space and lands in the area.
Rents received shall be covered into the state lands maintenance fund to be used in its entirety to retire and repay the indebtedness incurred under the provisions of this 1959 act [19-12-1 to 19-12- 13 NMSA 1978].
