15. There is hereby created a fund which shall be known as the special fund for civil defense volunteers to provide for the payment of weekly benefits for total disability, expenses of medical and hospital care and death benefits under this act and the expenses of administration. Such fund shall consist of any moneys appropriated therefor or credited thereto including any financial contributions received from the United States Government for such purposes. The State Treasurer shall be the custodian of this special fund.
The State Treasurer may deposit any portion of the fund not needed for immediate use, in the manner and subject to all the provisions of law respecting the deposit of State funds by him. Interest earned by such portion of the fund deposited by the State Treasurer shall be collected by him and placed to the credit of the fund.
Any moneys remaining in the fund after satisfaction of each of the claims for injuries occurring before the effective date of P.L.1995, c.383 and payable under this section shall be deposited in the General Fund.
