58:11-52. Effective date of standards; persons subject to standards

After the effective date of any pretreatment standards established as provided in this act, no person, firm or corporation, public or private, or any public agency or instrumentality shall discharge into the collection system of a public sewage treatment plant under the operation or control of any county or municipality, or of any public agency or instrumentality established by or pursuant to any law of this State and having as its purpose or one of its purposes the operation of a public sewage treatment plant, or permit to be discharged into the collection system of any such treatment plant under its operation or control, any sewage which does not comply with the aforesaid pretreatment standards.
In setting a date for the conformance to pretreatment standards by public sewage treatment plants and their users the commissioner shall provide a reasonable amount of time to remedy the existing situation and to comply with the pretreatment standards.
