43:17-1. Incorporation

In any municipality or fire district in this State in which there is organized for doing public fire duty, including nonprofit corporations or associations incorporated pursuant to N.J.S.15A:1-1 et seq., one or more fire engine, hook and ladder, hose or supply companies or any fire association, fire department or board of firewardens, which is under the supervision or control of a municipal governing body, or board of fire commissioners, the chief or there being no chief, the next highest ranking officer, and the president, if any, of such fire association or department, and all members of any board of firewardens, or board of trustees of such fire association or department, and all firefighters belonging to such fire engine, hook and ladder, hose, or supply company or companies, of such municipality or fire district, may associate themselves and become incorporated under and by the name of "the firemen's relief association," or any other name which shall indicate the object of such association, using the name of the municipality or fire district in which the association may be located.
