Any town employee who shall receive a permanent total disability by reason of injury, accident or sickness incurred at any time, who having had deducted from his salary or compensation the percentage provided in this act and who had been in the employ of the town for five years, in that event such town employee upon his application shall be retired on pension equal to twelve and one-half per centum (12 1/2 %) of the salary received by such town employee at the time of such retirement, and for each additional year of service more than five years the amount of said pension shall be increased, to the extent of two and one-half per centum (2 1/2 %) of said salary, not exceeding in any event fifty per centum (50%) of said salary.
In the event of the death of any such town employee retired under the provisions of this section while on pension, his dependents as defined in this act shall be entitled to a pension in an amount equal to the pension being received at the time of such town employee's death.
