An animal or creature abandoned in a maimed, sick, infirm, or disabled condition, if fit for further use, may be advertised and sold in the manner directed by a court of competent jurisdiction or animal cruelty prosecutor designated pursuant to paragraph
(1)of subsection a. of section 28 of P.L.2017, c.331 (C.4:22-14.4).
The proceeds, after deducting expenses, shall be paid to the county to be used for the purpose of protecting animals in the county.
