3B:22-30. Distribution by State Treasurer; proof of claim required of claimants

After payment to the State Treasurer, no distribution of the surplus shall be made to any heir or other person interested in the property from the sale of which the surplus so paid over to the State Treasurer arose, unless the heir or other person shall have secured a judgment under the "Uniform Declaratory Judgments Act" (Article 9 of chapter 16 of Title 2A, of the New Jersey Statutes) establishing his right thereto. Upon receipt of a certified copy of the judgment, the State Treasurer shall distribute the surplus to the person or persons entitled thereto according to their respective interests.
Payment shall be made by the State Treasurer upon proof by the person as to his identity and right to payment under the judgment.
