34:16-33. Confidential character of records

All records relating to the receipt of or application for vocational rehabilitation or independent living rehabilitation services shall be confidential and shall not be published or open to public inspection. No member, officer or employee of the commission shall, except for purposes directly connected with the administration of the vocational rehabilitation or independent living rehabilitation programs, and in accordance with regulations, solicit, disclose, receive or make use of, or authorize, knowingly permit, participate in, or acquiesce in the use of any list of, or names of, or any information concerning persons applying for or receiving vocational rehabilitation or independent living rehabilitation, directly or indirectly derived from the records, papers, files, or communications of the State or subdivisions or agencies thereof, or acquired in the course of the performance of official duties.
Any such act on the part of a member, officer or employee of the commission shall be grounds for dismissal by the Governor as to members and as to officers and employees, in accordance with the provisions of Title 11, Civil Service, of the Revised Statutes and of rules and regulations issued pursuant thereto.
