5. The commissioner, in consultation with the hepatitis C advisory board, shall report to the Governor and the Legislature, no later than 12 months after the effective date of this act and annually thereafter, on the activities of the program and the effectiveness of the program in meeting its objectives. The report shall clearly describe the guidelines, assessments and strategies employed by the commissioner in developing, implementing and evaluating the program. In addition, the commissioner shall seek to include in the report information on the proportion of acute versus chronic HCV infection among persons with HCV in the State and information about HCV infection that is specific to various populations within the State.
The commissioner shall accompany the report with any recommendations that the commissioner desires to make for administrative or legislative action relating to hepatitis C education, prevention, screening or treatment.
