18A:66-33. State contributions

Regular interest charges payable, the creation and maintenance of reserves in the contingent reserve fund and the maintenance of retirement allowances and other benefits granted by the board of trustees under the provisions of this article are hereby made obligations of the State. Except as provided in N.J.S.18A:66-27, all income, interest, and dividends derived from deposits and investments authorized by this article shall be used for payment of these obligations of the State.
Upon the basis of each actuarial determination and appraisal provided for in this article, the board of trustees shall prepare and submit to the Governor in each year an itemized estimate of the amounts necessary to be appropriated by the State to provide for the payment in full on June 30 of the ensuing fiscal year of the obligations of the State accruing during the year preceding such payment. The Legislature shall make an appropriation sufficient to provide for the obligations of the State.
The amounts so appropriated shall be paid into the contingent reserve fund. The amounts payable into the contingent reserve fund shall be paid by the State Treasurer, upon the certification of the commissioner and the warrant of the Director of the Division of Budget and Accounting, to the contingent reserve fund not later than June 30 of the ensuing fiscal year.
Annually the board of trustees shall report the amount necessary to be appropriated by the State on behalf of each employer pursuant to this section and N.J.S.18A:66-66.
