52:24.4.1 Annual audit of "Hazardous Discharge Fund," "Hazardous Discharge Site Cleanup Fund."

1. The State Auditor shall conduct an annual financial and operational audit of the "Hazardous Discharge Fund" created pursuant to the "Hazardous Discharge Bond Act," P.L.1981, c.275 and the "Hazardous Discharge Site Cleanup Fund" established pursuant to section 1 of P.L.1985, c.247 (C.58:10-23.34). This audit, together with any recommendations on practices or procedures to promote or guarantee the fiscal integrity of the "Hazardous Discharge Fund" and the "Hazardous Discharge Site Cleanup Fund" and to improve the effectiveness of fund operations, shall be submitted to the Governor and the Legislature, the Assembly Environmental Quality Committee and the Senate Energy and Environment Committee, or their designated successors.
The audit shall be due on or before December 31 of each year.
