7-4-2801 . Qualifications for county surveyor and deputies.
(1)Except as provided in subsection (3), a county surveyor must be a professional engineer as defined in 37-67-101 or professional land surveyor as defined in 37-67-101 .
(2)All deputies must also have a practical knowledge of engineering or land surveying.
(3)When the office of county surveyor is consolidated with another county office within the county, the requirements of subsection
(1)are waived. Unless the officeholder has the qualifications prescribed in subsection (1), the officer shall, with the approval of the governing body, contract for the services of a person with those qualifications to perform the duties of county surveyor.
