7-3-4213 . Election for first city officers.
(1)If a majority of the votes cast at the election is in favor of reorganization, the city council shall, at its first regular meeting held after the election, order a special election to be held for the purpose of electing a mayor and the number of council members to which the city is entitled. The order must specify the time of holding the election, which must be held in conjunction with a regular or primary election. The mayor shall issue a proclamation setting forth the purposes for which the special election is called and the day of holding the election. The proclamation must be published for 10 successive days in each daily newspaper published in the city if there is a daily newspaper or once a week for 2 consecutive weeks in each weekly newspaper published in the city. A copy of the proclamation must be posted at each voting place within the city and in at least 10 of the most public places in the city.
(2)The election must be conducted, the vote must be canvassed, and the result must be declared in the same manner as provided by law in respect to other city elections.
