53-6-1006 . Prescription drug consumer information and technical assistance program -- education outreach for consumers and professionals.
(1)There is a prescription drug consumer information and technical assistance program in the department to provide Montana residents with advice on the prudent use of prescription drugs and how to access government and private prescription drug programs and discounts. The program must include consultation by licensed pharmacists with individuals on how to avoid dangerous drug interactions and provide for substitution of more cost-effective drugs with approval by the prescribing health care professional.
(2)The department shall create educational resources, including a website, concerning the costs and benefits of various drugs to inform consumers and medical practitioners on clinically effective and cost-conscious prescription drugs.
