§ 97-9-33. Escape of prisoners; aiding escapes from officers.

Every person who shall aid or assist any prisoner in escaping or attempting to escape from the custody of any sheriff, marshal, constable, or other officer or person who shall have the lawful charge of such prisoner upon any criminal charge, shall, upon conviction, be punished by imprisonment in the county jail not exceeding one
(1)year, or by fine not exceeding Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00), or both.
