262.220. State fair — establishment — control — condemnation proceedings. — 1. For the purpose of encouraging the development of the agricultural, horticultural, mechanical, mineral, livestock production and all other industrial interests of the state of Missouri, there is hereby established a state fair, to be held annually at Sedalia, Missouri, and on the state fairgrounds heretofore conveyed by deeds of conveyance to the state of Missouri and hereafter to be acquired by the state of Missouri as herein provided; and the fair shall be under the control and management of the state fair commission.
The commission may lease or purchase such lands, suitable for the use of the state fair, as may be deemed by the commission necessary and proper for such purposes and subject to legislative approval.
2. The purchase of lands by the commission shall be on behalf of the state of Missouri at such terms as the commission may deem fair and reasonable, and a deed or deeds shall be taken therefor to the state of Missouri.
