184.355. Dissolution of subdistricts — petition — election, ballot form. — 1. Any special purpose subdistrict formed under the provisions of sections 184.350 to 184.384 after July 1, 1981, may be dissolved in the following manner: Upon the filing with the governing body of the subdistrict of a petition containing the signatures of qualified voters representing eight percent of the votes cast at the last preceding election for governor of any constitutional charter city not located within a county and qualified voters representing eight percent of the votes cast at the last preceding election for governor of a constitutional charter county adjoining such city, the governing body shall submit the proposition to the voters in the subdistrict using the same procedure and in the same manner so far as practicable as is provided for the submission of the question for forming the subdistrict.
Separate petitions shall be filed for each subdistrict sought to be dissolved.
2. Such proposition or propositions shall be submitted to the voters in substantially the following form at such election:

Shall the ______ Subdistrict of the Metropolitan Zoological Park and Museum District comprising the City of ______ and the County of ______ be dissolved?

3. In the event that a majority of the voters voting on such proposition or propositions in such city and the majority of voters voting on such proposition or propositions in such county at such election cast "YES" votes on any such proposition or propositions, then the subdistrict shall be deemed dissolved. The results of the aforesaid election shall be certified by the election officials of such city and county, respectively, to the respective chief executive officers of such city and county not less than thirty days after the day on which such election was held. The cost of such election shall be borne by the city and county, respectively, as provided by law.
4. Dissolution of a subdistrict shall be carried out in the manner prescribed by section 67.955 .
