144.35 POLLUTION OF WATER.
No sewage or other matter that will impair the healthfulness of water shall be deposited where it will fall or drain into any pond or stream used as a source of water supply for domestic use. The commissioner shall have general charge of all springs, wells, ponds, and streams so used and take all necessary and proper steps to preserve the same from such pollution as may endanger the public health. In case of violation of any of the provisions of this section, the commissioner may, with or without a hearing, order any person to desist from causing such pollution and to comply with such direction as the commissioner may deem proper and expedient in the premises.
Such order shall be served forthwith upon the person found to have violated such provisions.
