445.1542 Documents subject to MCL 15.231 to 15.246; publication of information; disclosure of information withheld from public inspection; evidence sought under subpoena.
Sec. 42.
Filings, reports, and other papers and documents filed with the department under this act shall be subject to the freedom of information act, Act No. 442 of the Public Acts of 1976, being sections 15.231 to 15.246 of the Michigan Compiled Laws. The department may publish information filed with it or obtained by it, if the action is in the public interest. The department or its examiners, investigators, assistants, clerks, or deputies shall not disclose information withheld from public inspection except among themselves or when necessary or appropriate in a proceeding or investigation under this act or to other federal or state regulatory agencies.
This act shall neither create nor derogate from any privilege which exists at common law or otherwise when documentary or other evidence is sought under a subpoena directed to the department.
