§5–908.2.
(a)In this section, “Commission” means the Somers Cove Marina Advisory Commission.
(1)There is a Somers Cove Marina Advisory Commission in the Department.
(i)The Commission shall consist of the following members:
1. One representative from Somerset County, appointed by the Board of County Commissioners of Somerset County;
2. One representative from the City of Crisfield, appointed by the Mayor of Crisfield;
3. The Secretary, or the Secretary’s designee;
4. One representative from the commercial fishing industry;
5. One representative from the economic development or tourism industry;
6. One representative of sailboat owners, who may be a current slip holder at Somers Cove Marina; and
7. One representative of power boat owners, who may be a current slip holder at Somers Cove Marina.
(ii)The composition of the Commission shall constitute a diverse cross–section of stakeholders broadly representative of multiple interests including tourism, economic development, business communities, fishing, and boating.
(3)From among its members, the Commission shall elect a chair and a vice chair.
(i)The term of a member is 4 years.
(ii)At the end of a term, a member continues to serve until a successor is appointed and qualifies.
(iii)A member who is appointed after a term has begun serves only for the rest of the term and until a successor is appointed and qualifies.
(5)The Commission shall meet at least biannually.
(c)The Commission shall advise the Secretary on matters related to the management, operation, maintenance, and development of Somers Cove Marina.
