§18–3601.
(a)In this subtitle the following words have the meanings indicated.
(b)“Annual adjusted gross income” means the total of the combined adjusted gross income of the applicant and the applicant’s parents, or the applicant and the applicant’s spouse if the applicant is married, as reported on the most recent federal or State income tax return.
(c)“Award” means a scholarship award from the Maryland Community College Promise Scholarship.
(d)“Community college” includes Baltimore City Community College.
(e)“Local promise scholarship” means a community college scholarship program in effect on July 1, 2018, that provides a scholarship to any high school senior who is eligible for enrollment at the community college.
(1)“Tuition” means the basic instructional charge for courses offered at a community college.
(2)“Tuition” includes any fees for:
(i)Registration;
(ii)Application;
(iii)Administration;
(iv)Laboratory work; and
(v)Other mandatory fees.
(3)“Tuition” does not include:
(i)Costs associated with the parts of a registered apprenticeship that take place at a location that is not a community college; or
(ii)Any fees for room and board that are related to an on–campus residential facility for students.
