Section 85. A railroad corporation, with the written approval of the department, obtained upon petition, and after notice to all persons interested, and a hearing, may, for the purpose of improving the alignment of its railroad or for any other lawful purpose, change its location, subject to the provisions of this chapter relative to the fixing of the route of railroads, and may take land for such new location by eminent domain under chapter seventy-nine.
