§4921. Feed for livestock used on public works; filing claims for
Any person, to whom any money is due on account of having furnished feed for mules or other livestock used by any contractor or subcontractor in the construction, erection, alteration, or repair of any public roads or other public works, under a contract in excess of five hundred dollars at the expense of the state or any parish, city, town, village, public board or body, may file with the authority having the work done and record in the office of the recorder of mortgages of the parish in which the work is being done any time after the maturity of his claim, a sworn statement of the amount due him.
Any payments made thereafter by the authority without deducting the amount of the claim so served on it shall be at its own risk.
