§735. School children; amendment of franchise
No license, privilege, or franchise shall be granted to any existing city or interurban railway, the parish of Orleans excepted, amending, modifying or changing any of its rights, obligations or privileges under its franchise unless the corporation operating the railway agrees to the insertion in the statute or ordinance making the change, a provision that it will furnish to all school children in actual travel to and from school, and provided with a proper certificate from the principal of the school which the said child attends, transportation at a price of not more than three-fifths of the fare charged to adults.
Whenever the rights, obligations and privileges of any existing city or interurban railway are amended, modified or changed by the city or interurban railway at the request of the governing authority of any city or parish the change, modification, or amendment shall not be construed as bringing such city or interurban railway within the provisions of R.S. 45:734 and 45:735.
