§2107. Board of commissioners; qualifications; term; compensation
All irrigation districts formed or created under the provisions of this Part shall be governed and controlled by five commissioners to be known as a board of commissioners. Each commissioner must be a qualified elector of Louisiana and must reside within the limits of the district. He must be the record owner of lands in the district of an assessed value of two thousand dollars, or must be the representative of some corporation owning lands in the district of an assessed value of two thousand dollars.
A representative of a corporation shall be designated to represent the corporation by resolution of the board of directors to that effect. The holding of the office of irrigation commissioner shall not be considered in contemplation of law as dual office holding. No commissioner, unless he is the secretary-treasurer, shall receive compensation for his services, but he shall receive actual expenses while attending to the business of the district.
Commissioners shall serve for a term of four years and until their successors shall have been appointed and shall have qualified. Vacancies in the office of commissioner due to death, resignation, or other cause, shall be filled by the remaining commissioners for the unexpired term.
