§1847. Vote of taxpayers required for assumption of indebtedness
No debt or outstanding bonded indebtedness of any drainage district included in a consolidated gravity drainage district shall be assumed by the consolidated gravity drainage district until the assumption has been authorized by a vote of the resident property taxpayers of the consolidated gravity drainage district, qualified to vote under the Constitution and laws of this state, who vote at an election hereunder. The board of commissioners of a consolidated gravity drainage district may call a special election and submit to the qualified voters the question of assuming the outstanding bonded debt and other indebtedness of any one or more gravity drainage districts wholly within the consolidated gravity drainage district.
In the submission of the proposition to the qualified voters the total bonded debt and indebtedness of all the drainage districts whose debts are to be assumed may be submitted as one proposition, or the proposition may be submitted to include one or more drainage districts bonded and other indebtedness, all or any part thereof, proposed to be assumed.
