§1744. Powers
The commissioner of agriculture and forestry shall administer the terms of this Part and control and disburse the proceeds of the tax levied and collected thereunder; however, disbursements may be authorized only by a majority of the members of the commission. He may continue to maintain a field office at Opelousas, Louisiana, to carry on the work of the commission, at which office meetings of the commission may be held, and he may establish rules and regulations, in accordance with the Administrative Procedure Act, for the administration and implementation of the provisions of this Part.
To assist in the collection of the tax, the commission may cause its duly authorized agent or representative to go upon the premises of any grower, shipper, dealer, or handler of sweet potatoes and examine or cause to be examined by any such agent or representative any books, papers, records, or memoranda bearing on the amount of taxes payable, and to secure other information directly or indirectly concerned in the enforcement of this Part.
