§602. Board of commissioners; advisory committee
There is created a board of commissioners of the New Orleans Planetarium--Science Center, to be composed of nine members to be appointed by the mayor of New Orleans to serve terms concurrent with the term of the mayor appointing them and until their successors are appointed and qualified. Four of said members shall be the superintendents of public education of the parishes of Orleans, St. Charles, Jefferson and St. Bernard. Members of the commission shall serve without salary, pay or per diem and without reimbursement for traveling expenses.
The said board of commissioners is hereby declared to be a body corporate and politic, with the power to acquire, construct, maintain, extend, repair and improve a modern planetarium and related scientific and museum facilities. The mayor shall have the power and authority to appoint an advisory committee, not to exceed twenty-five members. The advisory committee shall hold meetings for the purpose of discussing the policies and activities of the commission and advising the commission of the results of such deliberations.
